This is an older tutorial, but it helped me save a lot of time.  I've been using it for quite a while now.  I had an older pre-SP2 XP install CD.  Every time I reformatted and reinstalled (roughly once every 3 months), I would have to install XP, then install SP2, which as anyone who has had to install it before knows, takes quite a while.

Using this method, you slipstream SP2 into the XP install files, then burn the new copy and install from the copy.  This includes SP2 in your install, making it so you don't have to wait the manual install every time you decide to reinstall.  Hopefully it helps someone...

I looked in to that a few months back.  Tried it, but than discovered my only XP Pro CD was from a manufacturer and that screws up the slipstream.

I slipstreamed a disk from Dell no problem.

Yeah, you should be able to do it with any XP cd.

Ya know I would have done with this my xp64 disc but I never felt like I needed to.

Even though w/ my old mobo I was reinstalling about twice a month I never did it.

Maybe I was secretly training for the fastest windows installation contest?

You can also quickly make an image disk of a good install for future uses...   That would solve all your problems.

That's lame, the tutorial I read said it wouldn't work with a manufacturers CD.  My install is quite fresh, maybe 20 days old now?  You think I could still do it?
