Is it possible to run the Logitech MX518 and not use setpoint?  I don't want all the bloatware, but I'd like to have some better than generic drivers for my mouse and be able to customize the buttons. - At least partially.

I think your best bet is either full drivers or no drivers.

I've never heard of 3rd party mouse drivers, but I'm sure they exist.

I have a different logitech and it works fine without their drivers, but I don't know how muich button customization I can dom. I used the proper driver and accompanying apps for a day or two and hated although I don't recall specifically why.

Do you think I could extract the driver and just use it with no setpoint?

If you can get the right files, yes. I've had about 50/50 luck getting the actual file extraced. It would be an absolute pain in the arse to set custom buttons, though.

Close sir.  Thanks for the link.  Unfortunately it only allows you to map the 4th and 5th buttons, which Windows can do.  But buttons 6-8 are a lost cause.
