there's enough stoned morons running around telling me why weed is great, and why god doesn't exist, and... well, i guess if weed was legalized they'd STILL probably tell me why it's harmless (i don't care if it is or not, leave me alone people!).

i remember when i used to want weed to be legal. at least to be able to grow for personal purposes. but i quit and sobered up.

recently i watched something on the sundance channel about a pot fest or something in amsterdam, there were a lot of mentaly absent people on that program. that used to be me, dumb mindless rambling train of thoughts. keep weed illegal. than my kids wont have the excuse that it's not against the law.

agreed.

people who want weed will always get their weed. i'll never touch weed even though i can easily just make one phone call and i can get it in half an hour.

we've used billions and billions with the war on drugs and to of no substantial success.

i'm for legalizing it with having laws attached to it like alcohol and smoking.

Laws like heavy taxation so that when people get addicted to the easy of getting high they'll fork over millions of dollars each year to the government?

It's the American way, Latro.

I like the analogy between prostitution and drugs. Legal brothels in Nevada are clean, safe, and most inportantly, CONTROLLED. On the other hand prostitutes on the street corners are in danger or pimps/rapists and are a danger to spread disease.

Yeah, I just compared doin' the dirty to being high.

Well if weed is ever made leagl, which i don't support, there should be heavy taxes on it as a discouramenf, and maybe then income tax could be lowered.

I don't think it should be made legal.

However... for an american heritage class a while back I wrote a very convincing paper advocating the legalization of marijuana.  Matter of fact I got the 2nd highest grade in a class of 500+ students.  I don't remember what I wrote, but here are some things to think about.

Like you've mentioned, heavy taxation.
The Prohibition.  Of course this has more to do with revoking the legality of something.  It made the mafia explode.
Control.  If it were made legal, the government would have control of the sale etc. as opposed to the drug dealers.  MJ is a 'gateway drug' ie it leads to the use of other drugs.  This might be reduced if it were controlled by the government rather than by the street.

I really don't agree with the argument that since booze and nicotine are legal, other drugs should be too.
