So I came across this webpage via lifehacker.com and thought it was interesting.

it looks like Writer for the web is actually a quick way to sketch out ideas.  It would be useful if you have an idea while you're out at a friends or somewhere and don't have access to your usual writing software.

You can save your work also and access it anywhere.  It also has a blogging feature but I haven't tried that out yet.

pressing f11 will take you to full screen mode and really give you a truly distraction free environment.  f11 also returns you to normal mode.

That's pretty cool.

I think there's a lot of writer's tools (or at least a good number of them) mostly because it's easier to sharpen pencils or write new utils than it is to actually write.

[mini-rant]There are people that will tell you (and most of these people probably published a how-to write book for Reader's Digest) that you don't have to have an idea to be a writer. Ideas are cheap. This is sort of true -- you can write articles or ramble your way through 25 pages of fluff, or (even worse) follow someone's formula for formulaic writing. I like to think there's something worth sharing enough to go through the trouble of writing it down.[/mini-rant]

This could be useful for that spontaneous inspiration, but I think pens are still more readily available. Or blood.
