Personally I like the current colors.  Except for the favicon.

If you want to spruce it up a bit though, I'd put some sort of shadow around the boxes or something along those lines.

Now what you should do is make the black look 50% transparent.  Then you don't need shadows.

Yeah, give that a try.  That could give a really cool look.

Yeah, something along those lines.  Just make a 1px square transparent image and tile that as the background for that div. Should look pretty cool.  I'd toy with the transparency in photoshop larger and with the stripe background behind it and text on top to see what it would look like.  Then you can get the right level of transparency and make the 1px image.  Should look cool.

If I were you I would still try adding more graphics to the site.  But this is a great start.  I like the site's functions.

yeah, right now it has that "almost out of control" clutter feel and I'm sure some shadows/graphics would defiantly fix that right up, thanks for the feedback

Yea, the main thing to break it up is what we in the sign business call whitespace.  Generally you want a good bit of white space on either side of an object or set of objects.  Top and bottom can be less and still feel very clean.

If you want any further help or feedback let me know.  I'd be glad to assist you with some graphics.  I don't often deal with a modern look (the websites/signs I've designed usually have a rustic theme to fit the setting) so I enjoy going all out with the web 2.0 look.  I know diagonal lines, gloss & gradients can get seem very uninspired and blah, but I have fun with them because I don't get to use them often.
