Okay this is a small message to any higher ranked person in oPg, but adresses generally any admin for the server.
I am playing on the server pretty much every day for quiete a long time, it is my main pub server actually.
But within the last 2 weeks, especially the last few days, the server is getting wasted more and more by its people.
I report specific detail later.
But actually I call for more activity among the admins or at least some admins getting assigned that are also playing on the server over the day or at least in the afternoon. Because the problems are mainly from like noon to 7-8 pm pacific, the time only a few admins are online. And I really dont want to blame the admins that are often enough there, but it seemes not to be quiet enough. Due violations against the server rules, people get upset and leave, leaving the server empty or with not more than 7-8 people during the afternoon.
The main issue are teamflashers, teamkillers and with smaller impact mic spammers (actually not too many people know how to mute ingame and become upset) and hackers.
Especially the most annoying types, tfs and tks are always hyperactive while there is no admin around. People having fun blocking others or flashing the team at the spawn are a smaller level. But the most annoying thing is, that you, as a normal player cant do anything. My defuses getting stolen with flashes and "teammates" shot me with the awp while playing fair on the server. I might sound like a whiner but it's not only me getting affected, I saw more trouble with other people on the server before. The thing is that I cannot reach an admin, even though I added 5 on steamfriends. And I can understand that most people are online late due to work hours or private stuff.
But the effect of these people being annoying on the servers is, that others leave, change servers and many that are not those that come there regulary might not return. This issue is a problem on many pubs and the only thing that could help are not specificly more admins but maybe some admins checking the server or being available in the afternoon.
The server deserves not to be wasted by those annoying people.
Indirectly, a server with only a few players also is more likely to invite hackers, like seen today and on sunday. I dont think much of reporting them anyways as they leave and wont come back but within the minutes they spend on the server they decreased the number of people playing from 16-18 down to 5 or 6. It is just no fun.
However it is your responsibility what happens to the server and I know I'm free to go on any other server but I just quiet enjoyed the time here and dont want it to become a shithole like so many other servers have become.

maybe if we make it private by using reserved slots on all slots we can keep all the douchebags out and only let the cool kids play there.

I'd be in support of that idea... We put up an application form for a "password" and then review everyone we're interested in letting in. or something. REMOVE THE ASS HATS! |

Reserved slots = bad idea. Seriously, just be more gungho/john wayne with the admins. Throw an elbow and you won't have to deal with the crap. |

I've resorted to the multiple slay idea. Slay at the offense and say why. If they continue to be a douche then continue slaying at the beginning of the round. Drove off 3 asshats doing that and the server never had an issue. Easy to do when you are upfront about it. I think people make a stink when a ban comes out of no where and their "friends" complain on the server after it happens.

I used to love the ma_cexec for that reason. Except I'd bind their mouse1 to "kill" so every time they tried to shoot, they'd die. I was also a fan of slaying at the beginning of every round until they left. Until I got chewed out for that as well. |
