Was talking to Laws and we barely have enough room for one more server. It will be 18 man, 500 fps.
What type of server do you want it to be? Deathmatch is ruled out because it is just too hard on resources.
We'll brainstorm here and then I'll throw the options up in a poll.
Options I have come up with:
Gun Game Aim Maps Surf Maps RPG Mod 24/7 Map X CAL Map of the Week/Day 16k CAL Rotation CS Maps Premium (Pay to Play) Server
Or we could just scrap the CS server idea, upgrade to more RAM, and throw up a CoD4 server.

We don't really need another CAL server, we need a fun server.

I think 16k server is the best option if we want to expand. It would put nfo's 16k server in LA in trouble as well. We would probably steal alot of there peeps. There isn't another game out right now. That I think can help us at the moment. We have tried call of duty 4 and dota. Neither of them worked out. Also we can see which is more popular. If the 800 start out money becomes not as populated as 16k we have the option of changing the 800 to something else like gungame. This will be a good test to see which is more popular 16k or 800. We can always stay with 800 but I think we should run this test to see which is more popular.

But the problem with a 16K server would take away players from our 800$ server. Therefore we would have two average populated servers, instead of one popular server.

CAL map of the week, however consistent advertising measures on the forums and in-game must be made to ensure steady populations in-game.

having both a 16k and 800k server would split our player base and eventually cause more problems then start.
If you want 16k, put up a vote, win the vote, the start money changes.
Having two servers that are exactly the same but with start money will only cause more people to walk away from oPg than bring them to us.
The people that want 800 will play on the 800 but it won't ever get full so they'll leave to another 800 server.
Same goes for the 16k. We won't be able to pull people away from CPL LA, we'll just push more people to them.

I guess the issue stands then - do we want another CS server or do we want to try a different game?
I'm hesitant to do so, considering our past ventures into CoD4 and TF2 fell flat on their faces.

everything will fall flat on its face unless we have considerable community support.

Exactly. In my mind we have no choice but to expand into a newer game. That should solve much of our donation concerns and guarantee the community's future. The reason the past ones failed was not due to the venture but the 2 or 3 people that tried to make it work was not enough. We need to pick a game and stick with it.
