Wow what a lame guide...  I've been playing source since '03 and regular CS for long before that so I don't think I need a guide to tell me that the higher the server fps the higher the supported player limit will be LMAO.

Oh f***, if only someone had told Laby about your extensive knowledge he wouldn't have wasted his time writing that thing JUST FOR YOU.

i hope we get the technology to support 5000fps soon. the reg on the server is harrrible. and i've got pockets full cash.

Any way.....  Don't waste money on a high FPS server.  500fps is plenty.

Denver nfo 18 slot plus a 30 man vent totals.
500fps package is 90.46
2000fps package  is 110.46

Killa, are you going to get a server or not?

Clear, that article you posted basically backed my guide up. If you had bother to read it he acknowledged essentially what I said. I never said that 2000 fps didn't have some sort of benefit in some sort of situation. Hypothetically, the higher the FPS, the less chance for inaccurate packets. Still doesn't change the fact that we have to operate over a network, the tickrate, or the fact that we're talking about a pub server.

For a pub, the added potential for instability and strain on the server (on already overloaded GSP boxes) makes 2000 fps in a pub setting worthless. If you were playing professionally for money, then sure, give a hooey about having the absolute best possible performance in a LAN setting which you can entirely control. When trying to minimize cost, maximize value, and provide the most stable, reliable, and well performing pub server, go with 500 or 333.

And tell me how you've been playing source since '03 when it was beta/released in '04.

Regardless of what is better or not FPS-wise in reality, players still look at it as being "the bigger the better".  If we decide on getting a 500 or 1000, I say we advertise it as 2000 anyway if there is no noticeable difference.  I wouldn't want the server population to drop just over irrelevant FPS.   Afro

Sorry, I have been using the Steam Platform since Sept. '03 playing CSS since its release back when the shield was still around, sorry I did not wiki the release date.  Anyways I never said 2000 FPS was a must, all I ever said was that 1000fps is all that is ever needed in a pub environment and was expressing my like for the NFO GSP.  Then I got flamed by someone telling me to read your guide which I found kind of offensive since I can navigate this website just fine and if i choose to read it I would.  I even said I was willing to donate before I got flamed and raged on by two of your oPg members which I hardly ever see in the server as it is.  Undecided

It's all good, I didn't read the whole thread.

I'm just used to hearing 'OMGZ 5000fps iz teh sh!t yo!' *splooge* and responded accordingly. Sorry you got flamed, it tends to happen around here. We're just the grumpy old geezers who talk but don't play or play different games.  Grin

I would say so, it is also cheaper than 2000fps. And I think they don't offer 2000fps shit in Denver as well.
