So Hombre de Queso just banned me from the pub. As an admin I think this is inappropriate and he should be punished, we had a dispute about something in-game and i told him to bring it up on the forums, he decided to ban me instead.

Admin Hombre de queso politely asked a user called "adolph jesus" to change his name because he was concerned it would be viewed as offensive to other users.  Spittinglama immediately said, "don't change your name" and then proceeded to change his name to "adolph hitler" and play as such for 30 minutes or so.  During that time many users started changing their name to "adolph hitler II" and saying things like "seig heil" and even, "f*** the blacks" as well as using the n-word.

I repeatedly explained to him that the use of that name was obviously offensive and promoted racism, as evidenced by the crap people were saying.  He told me it wasn't and to report him if he had a problem with it.  I do have a problem with it, and the racist BS that it created in the server directly because of it, so that's why I'm here.  I recorded a demo if that's necessary, but I only caught the tail end of this episode.

Admins should be setting an example for other users, not promoting racism and trolling.

okay, a kid had the name adolph jesus, nobody said anything until hombre told him to change it, i told the kid it was okay, there's nothing offensive about it, after a few minutes of arguing about it i changed my name to adolph hitler to make a point and to support the other kid about his name being okay, as for other people changing their names, they were just trolling because they were friends of mine who found the argument absolutely ridiculous. at no point did i witness anyone say anything along the lines of "f*** blacks" or "seig heil"
i see nothing wrong with my name. its the name of a historical figure. What if somebody came in the server as Joseph Stalin? would he make them change their name? because you might not know but Stalin murdered more people than Hitler ever did. or what about queso? maybe i find that associating spanish people with cheese is offensive.
my take on the issue is:
1)hombre started the problem, nobody had said anything until he brought it up, so HE was the one promoting racism if there even was any.
2)why is adolph jesus offensive? i see many more names that are much more offensive than that would ever be
3)you are never going to convince me that those names are wrong, there is nothing wrong with naming yourself after a historical figure. if people are going to act like children and spout racist bullshit you ban THEM not ME

Should a big deal have been made about it?  No.

Let the issue die.

If you go after him or agitate him, I (and perhaps others) will be less apt to unban you next time.

i also have an issue with the whole being banned by a person with equal admin as me even though i told him to take it up on the forums.

I understand.  He could have handled it better.  In the same breath, he's been an admin for quite a while, and this is his first complaint.

Like I said, let the issue die.  If there are more/other problems, action will be taken.

He asked your for 5 minutes to change your name.  Telling an admin to "take it to the forums" while another admin proceeds to essentially troll the server and bait users to say racist things is obviously not acceptable.  If you had been on the CT side you would have seen the kind of filth I had to deal with directly because of you.  It was disgusting.

For someone who is claiming as a defense that Hitler was just a historical figure you are remarkable ignorant of history.  The idea that Stalin murdered more people that Hitler is obviously not true and anybody who actually has read a history book on the USSR knows it isn't true.  More importantly, unlike Hitler, Stalin didn't commit massive acts of ethnic cleansing to "cleanse" Europe of its Jewish population.

Hitler is used as a symbol and rally point for modern racist movements.  It is akin to coming to these forums and making your avatar a KKK member (and then saying, hey these guys were a part of American history, what's the problem?).  The fact that an admin is doing it only makes it more despicable.

I have a BA in history and a bookshelf full of books related to the Russian Revolution.  Cite away.  You'll loose.  Most of the books that claim Stalin was akin to Hitler are right-wingers like Robert Conquest that bases most of his findings on conjecture and hear-say.  The only historian I'll come close to respecting in that camp is Fitzpatrick.

yeah, i have that book on me, The Russian Revolution by Sheila Fitzpatrick, you're really trying to say that through all of the purges and Stalin starving people to death less people died? i doubt it.

They have no idea how many Stalin killed.  Estimates are usually 10-100 million.  They couldn't be at the highest end, because no one would have been left to fight.

Hilter's widely accepted number is 6 million.

Your objective of being an admin is to "somewhat" be a leader and an example. While we all sometimes do not do the best job at it, we should learn from mistakes.
