I'm in possession of legit copies of both windows vista 64bit and 32bit, the question is which one to install?

Any help is greatly appreciated!

(My simple system is nothing but an athlon x2 2.6ghz, 4gb ddr800, radeon 4850, 2x 250gb seagate's, creative x-fi)

I would help if I could, but I can't. I have no experience with 64 bit vista.

Although, 64 bit XP was doable 3 years ago. I imagine if I could scrounge up enough drivers to run all sorts of nifty dohickeys on x64XP, then Vista should have drivers by now.

That's entirely speculation, though. I'm assuming here, and we all know what happens when I assume...

With a modern rig you should have no problems running Vista 64-bit. I've run it, and it works fine.

In all of the computers at work, people have told me 64-bit Vista is a ton more stable, then 32-bit Vista.

Here's what I'd do, install it, image the hard drive, and test it.

Then reformat with the other version, install it, and test it.

If you don't like the second one, load the image back on.

Unix/Linux based systems have it right... (Macs included of course).  Now, if they just built some F***ing games for them!

Should I risk making vista x64 my only os? Currently I have a small partition for it on one of my harddrives. The OS feels a lot smoother / streamlined than XP. But can anyone comment on the gaming performance?

On gaming performance I find that depending on the game you can either lose up to %10 percent performance, or gain about 3-5% performance. Its really not a bad OS. Its just the FUD people (i.e. Jake) how gave it a bad name.

Then again Ubuntu is FTW, if only they had more programs/games (or if Wine was just a bit better).

Oh yeah, that's not FUD.
