Monitor - SAMSUNG 2253BW @ $250 or the Acer AL2216Wbd @ $200 are really hard to beat. Yes, you want a widescreen monitor.

Working in Web Design and getting dibs on the latest office equipment, I have owned quite a number of monitors now.  And nothing even compares to the Dell Ultrasharp series.  I would strongly recommend this on a tight budget, or this on a slightly more lavish one.

Well nothing compares to the old Dell/Sony CRT's though.

I'll give ya that.

I don't deal much with monitors, I've always just been a hardware junkie.

laby's assuming you got the tech skills to put together a pc (i dont know if you do.. cuz i've certainly never tried).

my advice: go to best buy type stores and look for open box specials.. i just saw a pretty nice setup (quad core, 8800 GT card, 3 GB ram) without a monitor selling for 568....

If you don't have the tech skills to put it together, call me and I'll walk you through it.

Bali and I successfully instructed Killa on how to put together his PC when he had never done it before. It's not really all that bad.

Worst advice ever.  Find a neighborhood kid and pay him $20 to put it together for you.

Lolz It's funny how much we disagree on this topic.

I have purchased pre-built boxes when they are on sale because sale prices can sometimes shave multiple hundreds off your purchase.
