You guys don't realize that Vista adjusts to how much ram you have... If you have 4GB (or 3.xx as 32-bit is) then it will use more to run faster. If you have 1GB... then it'll use less.
I have never tried running Vista with 1GB of RAM. But with two it still took over 800 megs to boot. I'm assuming that is uses more of the pagefile when you have less RAM. Which is still insane.
Look at how large the default pagefile is. We have 4GB of RAM + 8GB of pagefile!? Yikes. I don't want to know why a personal computer would ever need 4GB of memory. Much less 12.
Meh, I'll shut up. I'm not trying to attack your opinions logic. Just bring out that I've had a very opposite experience with Vista. I'm glad that it has worked for you because it will be our primary Windows option in a few years.
And I see no reason why anyone will ever need more than 640K of memory.
Just cause you can't see it, doesn't mean it aint comin down the pipes. Some day there may well be a good reason for needing that much ram.
