Sorry I cannot upload the majority of the files because my site is temporarily down. It will hopefully be up tomorrow. I can give you a few website images though. J3R bear, I still haven't forgot about you. Imageshack won't let me upload spray files though .

Creepy. I'll do it for a nominal fee.

Outstanding work. Well done.
It would be cool to add that to the decallist.txt for mani.

Alright folks, I've been working on this for a while now. In my research I discovered that I could apply a normal map to the spray... which sounded awesome. After a couple hours I finally created and converted my bump map into a normal map and it looks great. Only trouble is I now have to figure out the vtf converter.
This spray should come out looking fantastic, particularly if you have HDR enabled. If I understand this well enough I should be able to make the spray render as a metallic. In addition the map applied to the spray will make the raised areas render as raised from the wall in-game. Hopefully the spray will be very noticeable as it will be a great advertisement for our clan and server.
One other hurdle/time-delay is that I have to reinstall CS: S to test it out, and to do that I'll need an internet connection (dammit!). It could be another couple days before I get this all sorted out. Hopefully it will be worth it.

Jed, you're diong this the hard way.
You know that you can just create a new alpha layer with the contents of the spray that you want to be visible selected and save it as a .tga right?
Much easier than the .vtf method.
Granted you won't get the super special effects, but still. :p

I didn't know that's what I needed to do for opacity... thank you sir that does help. I was curious if it would render opaque or not because in VtfEdit the alpha channel was always blank.
I do want to at least try to get the special effects to work, I've spent enough time on them that if I give up now it would be sad. Do you know anything about vtfs Laby? I was told that in order to make a mapped spray I would need to export a spray001.tga and a spray001_normal.tga and that vtex would apply the map to the spray. However I'm not convinced at all that this worked.

Yeah, I tried the VTF special effects spray myself once, never could get them to work, nor have I ever seen someone who has been able to get them to work in any server I have played. Accordingly, I have stuck to just opacity with targa. Targa is fairly simple/easy to do, here's a link to do it in 2 steps. http://sprays.hlgaming.com/tutorials-transparency.php

Okay, since I don't really want to reinstall CS: S right now, all I'm going to do for now is get you a targa.
Vtf is what they use for textures isn't it? If so I'm certain you can get this to work, it is just a matter of how. I have read quite a few tutorials on the matter, but I get the feeling they will be awfully time consuming.
One thing I recently thought of though, maybe Valve did disable everything except opacity & animation for spray vtfs. Because it would be fairly easy to create a mirror spray, and than use it to your advantage...

Yep.
And VTF is what they use for textures. If you want to convert it to .VTF to use in mani mod, etc then you should be able to use the VTF tool and the accompanying tutorial on that site I linked to. Otherwise, importing a targa in to CS: S is the easiest option.

Temporary link: oPg sprayAnyone who can, please download that and use it in-game. Than upload some screen shots of it from a couple of angles and post them here. The sooner the better, this may have worked out great.
