Discuss please.
My official write up comes tomorrow.
Official Write up:
Ok, I believe we had a few problems, but overall it was a lot better than last week. I'll start out with the bad news, before I move on to the good news:
Bad Points:
-Intersquad Communication: We had severe problems with this from a squad leader standpoint. Having the phantom in the other channel made it so I could hear the other channel at all times, but hearing all 9 people at once was just too hectic, and crazy. What I reccomend is that we remove the phantoms from the channels, and just set up binds which will allow squad leaders communicated between channels. This way the squad leaders will still be able to communicate between squads, but they won't have to deal with the constant jabber of everyone. It's much easier to micromanage 5 people if you can only hear those 5 people, and then get needed information from the other squad leader on a "need to know" basis.
-Defense: I'm at a loss on this, and I've never been a very good defensive player at anything. I like to think I am, but in all honesty I'm horrible at it, and it shows. No matter what it is, CSS, Ultimate Frisbee, Soccer, etc I've always been able to play great offense, but my defense is suffering. Thus I can tell us that we need work, but I can't give you much on how to fix it.
-Communication Among Squad Members We had a problem with this, but it's not what you're thinking. It wasn't a lack of it that was a problem, but it was the fact when we needed to communicate we didn't know how to express ourselves. There would be unecessary rambling, stops, and pauses when communicating between each other. Most of this is the result of not having done this before, but I believe it would be beneficial if we tried to learn some military combat language. Especially the phoenetic alphabet.
-Organization in General I'm mostly to blame for this one, I wasn't sure what to expect and I didn't know how to plan accordingly. I should have been ready by 8:45, but due to a social dispute I was having, I was late that night. I apologize, and I will try to improve the organization, because it seems the more organized we are, the better things went.
-Lack of Rank/Squad Letter When you join a team for practice you NEED to have your rank before your name, and the letter of the squad you are a member of after your [oPg] tag. There are no exceptions to this, and it really helps us out overall.
-Binding of keys For the love of god DEBIND your in game "Voice Chat" key when using ventrillo. There is nothing more annoying than hearing someone in vent and in the game at the same time, due to the slight delay it is very distracting.
Now that I've bashed us to death, what did we do good?
Good points:
-Offense We managed to pull STELLAR offense on Dust 2. This was in part due to the lack of organization of the other team, and in part due to our members. Although, I believe that rather than all 9 players going the same way to the same bombsite we need to split up. Whichever squad has the bomb goes one way to the bombsite, and the squad without the bomb goes a route which will most support the squad with the bomb. Sometimes this will mean all 9 going the same direction, but other times this will mean splitting up.
IE
Squad B gets the bomb on Dust 2. Squad B calls B. Rather than go directly to B, squad A goes middle to B in order to cause a distraction and give squad B time to plant. After planting squad B could then swing middle to catch the CTs in a crossfire.
-Sportsmanship I know this sounds cheesy, but it's the truth. Good sportsmanship is a very important thing to have, and it's especially hard to maintain during CSS matches. Good job there, and let's keep the sportsmanship at this level, even if we are getting our butts kicked.
-Working Together as a Team There seemed to be very little "Ramboing" going on, and 90% of the time we were working as a team. Granted, we'll gel more as we get to know each other, but good job there so far.
I'm sorry that I couldn't come up with more positive points, I know they are there, but I just can't remember them. This sunday's oPg vs. Public signup will be up by tomorrow. We'll be runnign fluid strategy again.

MUCH better. First of all, not nearly as many FF incidents, and two, MUCH better planning. For improvment, we need a better defensive strategy. We need to know the fastest ways to each bombsite, and pay attention to radar to see where our own teammater either are, or dying. Having the A or B at the end of our names helps identify which bombsite is being pushed at by the terrorists. Also, knowing contra would help, so practicing on it is a great idea.

haaaaaarrrrr. fun. very fun and a very good way to get regulars on the server. in terms of scrimming, i was mainly on the other team, so i can't say much on that. well, i guess i can since i did play you guys.
the team you guys got to play against were pretty good to give a competitive practice (esp. with anarchy and iambud), and the competition forced us to get really focused on the contra map.
well, you guys rocked on the 1st dust 2 map, and got everyone on ct to be pretty helpless. on contra though, things we just really really even. sorta felt like everyone was running everywhere to get a kill. i'll have to say flat out that i felt jake's presence the most. for instance, on contra, i was cautious about him setting his sights on whoever would go down middle as i saw him kill several rogue t's spree that way. then he'd also watch the sand path between bombsite b and middle so i never dared go there again. i learned the most from that map as i understood more of what could be done against you.
returning to dust 2 the 2nd time around, we (the t's) started off sorta organized then sorta dwindled away as we would often just camp the tunnels. i felt good pressure from you guys. it got to the point where i'd awp the doors to A to prevent flanking. worked a little bit...
So i think that you guys did well for the real first practice. yay opg!

We need to have our team killings at 0 every practice there is no need for even one to happen. Planning was a lot better. We need to work on strats to mix it up a little, for example when bravo team would clear out b before alpha team came in that worked well and after you left laby i tried a couple things having both teams going one way and it worked everytime we tried it. I would also like us to work on flashbangs a little more. Maybe set up who is gonna flash and how many are going to be thrown for example having bravo team going to b tunnel, two maybe three of us flash but we time our flashes by waiting till the first flash hits the wall and as soon as it does have the second flash thrown and so on just an idea if you dont like it then throw it right back lol. This was a really productive practice and i feel we can get so so soo much better. P.S. THANK GOD WE HAVE JAKE ON OUR TEAM

o yeah, like 6 out of 8 of us were serious in kicking ur guys' trash. a few would wander off which is just fine since it would get ur attention. we weren't great in planning on who would do what but at least we were in the general area of our desination. we did much better on contra frankly cuz it wasn't defense.

Just wait, when we did this with BoE. After 3 weeks the public players would get so organized it was scary.
They essentially were doing what we were diong, but on the fly, and it was a 30 man DoD: S server. O.O

T'was a good practice. T side on dust2 was major pwnage...11-0. We kinda broke down on Contra due to some oPg'rs that aren't very familiar with the map yet, but with a little more practice that should be ironed out. CT side on dust2 could use some tweaking imo.
