From the looks of that picture you don't spend much on anything else....

Also, I just roll with z4's. I like them.

I used to have over 80gigs of music on my computer, but when I got my new system I didn't bother to copy any of it over, since most of it I hadn't listened to in forever. Right now I think I clock in at a modest 10gigs.

I haven't got much of an audio set-up yet, since money is tight and I'm living at home right now. I did have a friend I worked with at an electronics store though who had a set-up involving 3 amps, 3 subs, and a dozen tower speakers. And this guy only listens to like metal and similar heavy music. Suffice it to say it was both impressive and deafening.

Right now I just have around 6 Gigs of music (at tops I had 10 or so, but alot of it I didn't listen to)

80% is encoded at WMA 10 Professional 192/44/16, with some at 192/44/24 and WMA standard 192/44/16.

My collection just went from 80GB to 200GB.  There is some duplication in there that needs to be cleaned up tho.  It's all .mp3 and all over the map in the quality settings (i'm sure).

Ive got about 8.5gb of mp3's.  Most of it is Rock/Altern but also allot of Rap/Hip hop and a few classic oldies.  Recently Ive been spending most of my money at soundsbox.com or mp3sugar.com, they have most albums for about $1.50-$2.50 or about $0.14 a song.  I worry that the RIAA will bust down my door if I dont pay for them,  so thats why I dont Torrent or anything.

My sound setup varies from a headphone at my PC to a 4 speaker 1 sub setup in my car.

Ball you should look at MediaMonkey, its a great utility for organizing your mp3's.  It will probably detect your duplicats and remove them if you need to.

Personally I don't care about the RIAA, it is doubtful they would come after me since I don't steal very much stuff.  The only reason I'm interested in buying my music, is because I would like to support the authors.  Sadly sites like allofmp3, soundbox & mp3sugar don't pay the author anything.

I actually buy all my games.  I only own two downloaded movies.  And I plan to buy them when I can afford to.  I only download TV shows that are recorded off TV, no DVD-rips here.  However, I can't afford all the music I own, unless it was 10 cents a piece.

However the legality of places like that is debateable at best, even though you are paying them, they don't have any agreements with any record compaines. So essentially your paying them to pirate music for you Sad

So you pick and choose which laws to break based on how much money you have in your pocket and how BAD you really want it...   You must appreciate music more than movies, or justify 3 minutes of a product as being worth stealing while stealing a 120 min product is not justifiable.  Whats the difference if you DL and saved a copy of a show streamed from TV, you still won't pay for the ability to watch it over and over again (the purpose behind selling DVDs of TV shows) and thus hurt the makers of the show.

Its ok, we all do it.  But its one in the same.  IF you take something for free that was not give to you through legal means its still stealing.  You can't justify it.  You take music and TV shows.  Others take software and Movies.  You're still taking...

Just accept that you're a pirate like everyone else.

Here's a question.  If I subscribe to cable, and I miss a TV show, so I download it.  Is that piracy?

Pretty much exactly what I'm saying.  If I can't afford to buy something I'm not going to be paying the author anyways.  Yes it's theft, but according to my conscience I'm not hurting the other guy any so it is okay.

On the other hand I obtain my TV legally according to fair use.  But I still own 25+ seasons of TV on DVDs.  Why?  Because if I like a show enough to buy it I do.  Plus you get all the extras.  Woohoo!

And Jake, no that is not piracy :/.
