So, I had this little idea. I like music, you like music. I may like some of yours, you may like some of mine, but we haven't heard what other people have to offer. Let's show each other music that we like!
This being a game, it needs rules. 1. Give the band's name, and a really good song of theirs. Try and give an iTunes music store link, YouTube video (thanks Laby) or a MySpace page link. If you can't do either, go ahead and use whatever means necessary to get the song, but if you download for free it and like it, PLEASE go and buy it on CD or iTunes or whatever.
2. No retarded shit like "lol theres this band called the beetles you should check em out" Do this and get banned from the Music forums. However, just because they may be a fairly popular band that most of us have heard of doesn't mean you can't post them. For example, if Lissa were to do a post on Finger Eleven, which most of us have heard of, that doesn't mean we have all heard their music.
3. Be respectful of other people's musical taste. Don't start flamewars or generally be an ass.
4. If you can, try not to do radio singles that we have all heard if we turn a radio on for more than 15 minutes.
I'll start us off.

Kamelot: The epitamy of power metal, they get down and dirty with the fantasy, but make sure to include a few ballads per album. Their new album, "Ghost Opera" comes out in a few days, be sure to check it out. http://www.myspace.com/kamelot(Are youtube links to videos ok?)

Yeah, good idea! I was a little unsure about those guys at first, sounded like a Final Fantasy soundtrack or something, but I liked it a lot! The singer has a way cool voice. Edit: The name of that song was Ghost Opera, correct?

this is AHA. all of you have probably heard their other song, called Take On Me . Think GTA: Vice City. Most ripped off melody ever. So yeah, i have their discography, in FLAC. i bump it, all the time. i put it on cds to give to people. pm me your address i'll send you a copy, or better yet, go buy it on itunes (notable singles- take on me, the sun always shines on tv. videos are good too also of note: A-Ha is scandinavian. ninjas in pajamas and schroet kommandoes are scandinvian. they are all hot. i'm scandinavian. i'm hot. get the picture?

Ok, I'm going to get my metal binge out here. Nightwish: Darker, heavier power metal. They often times lean towards symphonic metal, but it's still heavy. Operatic vocals combined with average guitars and drums is Nightwish's trademark. However, they recently took a radical twist, losing their lead singer, the band now sounds much more mainstream. http://www.myspace.com/nightwishSonatata Arctica: Very fast power metal, leaning towards speed metal. Their vocals are often times difficult to understand, but their instrumentals make up for it. Their keyboard is very weak, but the rest of it is strong. This band recently took a radical twist to grungier, heavier music. Not my cup of tea, so I don't like much of their newstuff. http://www.myspace.com/sonataarcticaSymphony X: The original power metal group. It doesn't get much better than this. Because they defined the genre, just about everything they do fits perfectly under it. Both their vocals and instrumentals are amazing. http://www.myspace.com/officialsymphonyx(They don't have any easily accessible videos online, so here's them live.) Dream Theater: The most successful prog-metal band ever. They fit the bill for prog metal like a glove, with heavy music gone soft and "enlightened" vocals. As with all prog-metal, if you don't get it, well, then you're just not refined or sophisticated enough to understand it. IE Upper Class during 2nd Ind. Rev. www.myspace.com/dreamtheaterWithin Temptation: The only gothic rock band I can stand besides Epica. Featuring a slow, heavy guitar section; slow, heavy drums; and a "Epic," operatic vocalist, they fit the bill for gothic rock perfectly. They even feature the grungy male vocals in the background every now and then. www.myspace.com/withintemptation[gvideo=400,326]1679420890114817986[/gvideo] Dragonforce: Who doesn't know about dragonforce by now? Well, if you don't, Dragonforce is the epitamy of speed metal. Having some of the fastest guitarists in the world, everything they play is lightning fast. Undoubtedly their instrumentals are amazing, but their vocalist has a decent voice as well. www.myspace.com/dragonforce[gvideo=400,326]6774480477151603429[/gvideo] If I ever feel in the mood, I'll post all my lighter stuff.

I'm not sure how popular either of these guys are. I was going to post some less than popular rap songs I really like, but I didn't think you guys would like them. Like I said, I don't watch MTV or any of that jazz much, so I'm not sure how popular either of these guys are. Shinedown - 45 Guano Apes - Open Your Eyes

Laby, some of that shiz was badass. I'd heard of most of those bands but Within Temptation was new to me. Anywho, this band is from SLC, UT. GazaDecibel gives Gaza's I Don't Care Where I Go When I Die 9 out of 10 "All roads point to Utah being f***ed up. Now, I've never really experienced Utah -sleeping while someone else drives through the state doesn't cut it with the lonely planet people- but everyone I talk to who has been comes back with crazy stories about the Peyton Place backdrop, guys with multiple wives, excessively violent mosh pits, unparalleled straight-edge militancy even though the state has ridiculously frustrating drinking laws, and that whole thing about the Mormons and their sacred undergarments. Thus, it's really no surprise that this most violent sounding of bands calls Salt Lake City home. Gaza channel and unleash the repression they've lived with since they were knee-high to a grasshopper, with the culmination a hedonistic, sonic slashing wrapped in an outpouring of acerbic and sardonic...well... everything. First reaction: This is f***ing unhinged! The promo sticker on front reads, "For fans of Botch, Pig Destroyer, and Premonitions of War," which is pretty accurate, but fails to mention the multiplication by 10 that Gaza have foisted onto these influences, or the addition of Coalesce-like rhythmic pulsating and Deadguy's all-encompassing hate. The swell thing about I Don't Care is that even amid the caustic bedlam, Gaza keep the individual songs flowing like a river of angry lava; "Sire" is capable of summoning the Earth to open up and swallow small countries, while "Slutmaker," "Moth" and "Hellcrown" take Coalesce's Give them Rope , blindfolds it, and throws it into a dank dungeon. The lyrics are equally compelling, provoking and hilarious. A random sampling: "Dumber than a bag of Hatebreed fans," from "Slutmaker"; "What the f*** smells like bad priest in here/ We've got blood on the door/ God war/ Death president/ Let's get hopped up on horse tranquilizers and play with clawhammers," from "Calf"; and "They used you to clean up tears after a Thrice show/ f***ing belt buckles everywhere/ Never digesting anything is a hell of a diet plan," from "Gristle." Awesome stuff." ----Kevin Stewart-Panko EDIT: Also, I just found out they'll be playing in Provo on the 11th at Starry Night (Freedom Blvd. and Center).

Axxem - Normally I hate anything with screaming like that, but that wasn't bad. The second half of that song was pretty good! Now for another one from me: Brendan Benson From Detroit, MI, you would probably know Benson better from his work with Jack White recently as the group The Raconteurs. He's recorded his last two albums in his own house, and he plays all of the instruments himself. He has a really really good album called Metarie, but I couldn't find any good videos for that album on YouTube. This one is off of his lasted album called "The Alternative to Love" But if you want a good CD by him I'd suggest "Lapalco." Cold Hands, Warm Heart

Likin what I see so far. Anywho, Pronobozo: A great DJ who has managed to bust out some pretty awesome tunes. I don't know very much about him, just that I like his music. Some and/or most of his bing songs are done as favors or on comission for another person. Call him a sell out if you want, I call him awesome. http://www.pronobozo.com/The team in the video is Team Ryouko, an extreme martial arts team from Canada. The huge white guy, "Havok," was featured in the movie 300.
