I'm pretty sure it's real. That link goes to a "hard-science" webpage (okay, it's a bit heavy on the impending doom of the planet due to global warming). Anyway, the kid already had the interface from having epilepsy (I believe it was) and didn't Russia already have technology where pilots could lock on in the HUD with just thinking? I remember a while ago you could buy the technology for use in games, but it wasn't very useful back then.

I think a computer future like unto Neuromancer isn't that far off or far-fetched.

No it isn't there have been regular articles in popular science about it.  It started off with a rat being able to open his water dish just by thinking it, and the latest I saw was a human who controlled a very complex robotic arm.
