Most people that think people from california are weird are the same people that think universal studios and hollywood are the only two 'MUST DO' things when they visit.

Fair point.

Best places to go in California are Sequoia National Forest and Yosemite.  They are two of the most amazing places in the United States.

I love it when people from California call other people weirdos...

But yes,  Utah is a unique place.  I like it though... But I don't drink so that stuff never bothered me.

You forget everyone who went to california back in the day went thru utah and wondered why the f*** anyone would stop.

They didn't ski.

Retards.

My theory is the mormons mistook the great salt lake for a bay, thought they were in california and by the time they figured out it was utah they already built a city.

P.S. While Utah snow> cali snow if the price that came with it meant I had to live in Utah, sorry, I'll take tahoe any day.

P.P.S Enjoy surfing on your "great salt lake"

edit: yosemite is/has been ruined for some time during peak season by too many people, go early spring or even winter

and as a side note, i take people to hollywood but ask them if they have a desire. i took goose and jaminz on the double decker bus there. but it wasnt a must do on either of their lists.

Yes Yosemite has become overcommercialized and overcrowded in the past decade, however there's something to be said about the Valley's ability to get the general populace outside and enjoying nature that makes me ok with this. I still think Yosemite is one of the best places in the world to visit.

Plus true natureheads should still have their secluded backcountry areas where few people go, like the Eastern Sierras. There are plenty of trails and preserves in California that haven't been overrun.. yet.

On a side note: I hate it when people say they're going camping and end up staying in a lodge with a cafeteria 20 feet away. Yes it's fun, no it's not camping.  Angry

I think there are really 2 kinds of camping. There's the "family & friends camping" you do which is mostly an excuse to hang out and get drunk outdoors. (drive in camping) Then there's "real camping" to appreciate nature where you dig a hole to shit in and tie your food up in trees (backcountry).

Both have their places, the first is more fun the second more rewarding.

If your real camping you will not dig a hole but let it dry and use it for kindling.

sorry but cant you go "real camping" and "family & friends camping" at the same time?
im fairly certain that you can.

there's camping.
then there's an excuse to get drunk outside.

these two can easily be merged.

i have never been to Yosemite or Yellowstone and both are on my list. i think we're gonna head out to Zion in the springtime. im 10 kinds of excited.

it happens, and you can still see much of the 88' fires, but it is still well worth it for the most of the park that isn't burned. As long as a forest is there, it is going to burn, with the current cylce though right now is a pretty nice time to see it. Something about mud boiling for no obviously reason in a random hole in the mountains is special.
