xbox360 + Vista Ultimate

So I finally finished setting up Vista and the first thing I did was hook up the Media Center to the Xbox. Disappoint a bit but still real cool. The xbox doesn't play avi!! and that's what I store all my prawn in!! well, and other movies too. So, I'm gonna have to convert all that. But, still the same I can steam all my music from my vista machine to my xbox which is badass. Plus it will play playlists you have setup in your windows media player - good stuff. Setting up playlists in the xbox is normally a pain in the ass. Not to mention my music is > 20 Gigs.

My 'puter is wireless and the xbox is too. They highly recommend against this and it's easy to see why. The bandwith just isn't there (and I'm on a g network). So, I gotta plug the desktop in. (fishing for cable... yaaa  )

You know appleTV does all this with itunes... and you can easily import video into itunes....

Well, the appeal for the xbox + vista is that I can access and play all my music on the vista machine through my reciever WHILE I am playing the 360. Fun for Tiger Woods and other games you don't need sound for. I will 100% admin that I the fact that it doesn't play AVI is SOO gay. But, I figure it's probably only a matter of a couple months before the 360 is hacked better and has some software that can be loaded to become a better media device (play avi's).

I did the same thing, only you can play .avi through X360/Vista

There's a decoder you can download for Vista/X360 that will let you play .avi xvid or whatever. I forget what it's called. Just do a search and you'll probably find it pretty fast.
