Im re-establishing my old game critiquing on the forums because its helpful and I enjoy it.

Warhammer Online.

You either hate it or love it, I'll try to be impartial.

Wow players have either been in extreme anticipation for this release or have gone the other route and /spit on it. As most of you know I took a while off playing wow, so coming from that game and attempting to play this one was quite eye-opening. If you have the hardware the game looks fairly decent, nothing out of the ordinary to be honest, it can be run on fairly low end graphics cards, just like Wow. In this game they essentially analyzed wow, came up with a list of things they didn't like, and things the players hated (Grinding, leveling professions...etc) and fixed them. Awsome I know. However, for a wow player coming into this game, I personally was nothing but confused, although the UI is fairly standard (as all MMORPG UIs are) the way the game functioned was extremely complicated and overwhelming at first, and not to mention glitchy. One of the coolest things about this game is the fixing of the class system. Healers are no longer only designated as healers, but they can dps as well, making them easier to level and more fun to play. Classes have unique abilities, coming from wow they are very different, although the standard roles (IE Tank, Melee DPS, Ranged DPS, Healer) all still apply. The game is great....to talk about, but when one starts playing, and see's a screen shot from  Dark Age of Camelot, one can't help but look twice, the game play is extremely similar, and other than slapping on some graphics and a different storyline, the games are very much one in the same.

6/10 Love me, hate me.

I'll basically agree with almost everything said in that. The PvE and mechanics of the game are very similar to that of DAoC. They honestly probably didn't put much effort into developing the PvE into something that was going to shine above as they always said that RvR (PvP) was what they were focusing on. As such, the RvR in the game is amazing.

Classes in the game are very standard, but like Jenksz they did a good job of varying the abilites and each class is very different from its counter-part. In WoW, both alliance and horde have basically the same line up of classes. While the general idea of the classes are the same, they did a great job of varying the basics of the class to make sure you arent fighting against someone who has the same abilities as you.

Shaman is a good example of a very interesting class to play. They have a power meter for the spells. Each time they cast a offensive spell the defense meter goes up (max 5 boost) and the next defensive healing spell is increased by that much. If they cast 5 healing spells in a row their next offensive spell is well, just try not to be in range. It's a great way to show the benefits of really learning your class and using everything it has to offer instead of just solely healing or attacking.

Both sides have what is basically a "Hunter" from WoW. However, they again made sure to change things up so the gameplay is interesting. The Destruction version is a ranged dps class with different pets that have helpful buffs for the player. The Order side is a melee dps with a sick white lion  that is very overpowered at the moment! XD

Ok, so now the rating. If you play this game for the PvE side of it a  6/10 is very generous. Honestly, it would be lucky to get that rating. If you want to play in lots of PvP, this game deserves much higher. No game I've played compares to the experience that this game delivers (and I've played a LOT).

I honestly hate how there's no autoshot for the hunters, constantly clicking or pressing the shoot key is annoying in comparison to the Wow auto-shoot for hunters.

PvP in comparison to Guild Wars?

It'd take a mighty effort to dethrone Guild Wars PvP

Very flashy, but it seems to be that this is just to take away and get people to not focus on the fact that its pretty much turn based.

Looks good.

Don't think it beats GW, though. Then again, I haven't played it.

Duuddee...

Don't tempt me man. After I deleted all my main toons I went back for a week and got 90% done with a new toon. It's begging me to go back.

Sadly, that game has become so infested with chinese gold farmers and other shenanigans that it's more or less a ghost town.

Anyone else have Guild Wars?  If we get started, It is certain that Laby will join us!

Roop.

I'd be able to join you after I finished a few missions. My toon is from Factions - leveling from 1-20 in that one takes about 2 hours versus 8.

I have no idea what my character is at... I'd probably start from scratch.
