*lol* I don't actually own one.  And I doubt I ever will after I discovered they have worse graphics then a 360.

I don't' own a PS3 either. Would I if it were say knocked down to a more manageable price range then 500+? probably. But I have never, and will never own an xbox or any variation of one.

As to the storyline of halo, I attempted to play through it but found it trite and done to death. It seemed like every other story, and "creating a universe" is hardly an excuse since that is done in a number of books/games all the time. Keep in mind, I haven't played through the entire game, because I didn't give it a chance (I'm willing to admit that), so my opinion is of course bias. I just honestly feel everything Halo 1-3 did, other games have done and have done better. On top of the storyline, they excuse it being incredibly short with "well it's more about multi player" (they being Rabid Halo fans), to which I say... I don't want to play multi player on a cumbersome Xbox controller. Hell, I had to shut up one rabid Xbox player by playing against him with a keyboard/mouse on the PC version, simply proving to him FPS are meant to be played with keyboard and mouse...

Not sure where I was going with that rant. All I know is I honestly feel like Halo doesn't deserve half the hype it's getting. HL2 is better then it mechanics wise, Portal is better then it story wise and it's only 3 hours long, TF2 is better then it multi player wise...

I agree.  Halo sucks.  The first one was alright.. I want to stab my eyes out when playing the second.  I have not yet played the third.

Ok, so it doesn't suck... Its just not nearly as good as all the hype it gets

*insert your comments about how apple computers aren't nearly as good as all the hype they get*

Anyways...  Why do we get so consumed by silly things like video games and electronic machines?  Such a waste of our time.

Fair enough.

I actually haven't played all the way through any of the Halo games.  I have seen them played a lot and read all the books.  And that is how came to the conclusion that they have an awesome story.  The books in particular.

However I'm sure that I appreciated the story more because of my intense fascination with exoskeletons & spartan warriors.

And by "created a universe" I meant something different than a regular game.  I meant it like how Starwars created a universe, complete with all the random details and technology...  That kind of depth made the HL story more real and the Human's plight more believable.  It helps put you in the situation yourself and really experience it.  (Again, I read the books)

Campaign is the shiznit on all 3 of the halo games.

Yes, multiplayer is more fun in the end, but legendary is most awesome.

And Jed, not playing the Halo games... Pshhhh... You have just completely unvalidated your opinion on any console issue.  Wink

I have played, just not a lot.  I also didn't like multiplayer all that much on either of the first two.  But I was with another crappy player playing against two very skilled ones.  That's probably why.

JAKES NEXT POST IS A BIG HL2 E2 SPOILER

Campaign is the only thing I think these guys got right.  The multiplayer deathmatch is the same as every other multiplayer deathmatch out there.

/agree

I don't think I've ever been so amazingly wrapped up in the ending of a game. The last 30 minutes of that game are an awesome roller coaster ride if you play it right.

Oh... you got the story from the Books Jed? I think that doesn't really help your argument that Halo has a good story then. I mean, I'm speaking from what I see on Amazon.com and from personal experience with each Warhammer 40k book I've read, but each book is written by a different writer adding their own flavor to the already established (and usually rather broadly established) universe. Besides, how many of your average foaming-at-the-mouth Halo players actually read the books? I can think of 5 people I know that are those "HALO IS THE GREATEST GAME EVER INVENTED! EXCEPT FOR MAYBE MADDEN!" kind of people, and 3 can barely read, 1 reads nothing but playboy/hustler, and 1 likes to read "Perfect Boyfriend" (I don't know what that is, but I know it's a Manga). That's not to stereotype, I'm just saying those are the only 5 I have personal experience with.

Where I was going with this rant? Books written by a 3rd party for the sake of the Halo universe as a whole doesn't necessarily mean the games are worth playing, let alone nearly as good as they're hyped out to be.
