Thoughts?

First Impressions: (As in 10 minutes of use)
Personally, I think they made it much, much, much, much more confusing that the old one. I can still navigate just fine (no that does NOT negate what I just said) but by comparison NXE is a little confusing in comparison to the old GUI.
Avatars are pointless
What new features am I supposed to have again?
Loading games to the HD can often times make them slower than not. Not to mention screw up online matchmaking. Great.

I find the PS3 interface to be much more intuitive than either Xbox interface. Now, if the bloody thing had games and a decent online feature, I'd be in. (OMG let the flame wars begin)

----

I'll post my thoughts after I have more time with it under my belt.

NXE=new xbox experience?

too bad we don't have that many (any?) ps3 owners to write reviews for games. i've heard good things about little big planet and resistance 2.

only thing i've done w/ cousin's ps3 is watch movies like 300 in blue ray. holla!

I'm going to plug my 360 in today to see if I get it, or if I'm banned.

It's already been released on the newsgroups though, so either way, I'll get it.  Rough.

I can Watch Netflix... That makes it better than before.

Oh, and the HD issue is with only certain games... like Halo 3.

Yeah... About that.

I've got a friend's PS3 sitting in my basement because he doesn't want to lug a monitor to the dorms. I've played a few games on it. The first resistance was a blast on co-op campaign. I couldn't get past the first 30 minutes in the 2nd one because they stripped co-op from the campaign. Why try to fix something which wasn't broken?

Regardless, the PS3 would be pretty awesome - if it had games.

Hmm... Sony not licensing its movies to a rival's console? Whats next, not licensing it to run on Microsoft Windows-based PC's just because they are Microsoft... (which last I checked account for about 90% of all computers)?

I'm sure this is a temporary legal setback.  Its in Sony's best interest to make their content available across all systems.  Their profit margin on a DVD is a much higher percentage than what they get selling a PS3 (Considering they still loose money on each sale..)

up until now, the only thing i have really used my xbox for is assassin's creed. but i'm way excited for the netflix streaming. that's the only reason i just got a netflix account. i need to get a wireless adapter for my xbox tho, since now i'm nowhere near an internet jack.

Just get another router and flash it with DD-WRT and use it as a wireless bridge.

You can get a flashable router for far cheaper than you can one of their wireless adapters.

QFT.

That's what I do. I have my cheapo WRT54G v6 (4MB Ram/1MB Flash) as my wireless bridge, and my WRT54GS V1.1 (32MB Ram/8MB Flash) as my main router. Then again you could just use a PC and ICS.

Personally I like the NXE better than the old Blade styling. Avatar's are so-so, but copying games to the HD (which pirates will no doubt break the no-cd check) is good.

i liked it until i realized that half my wife's face is hidden by a big damn gray bar!!! avatars are pointless. and even though i don't need it, i still think they should offer a web browser, just to fit in.

ps3 is much better right now. i'm still waiting for home to be open beta.

my little bro got a lot of games for the ps3 and one of these days i'll play more than an hour of dead space, man that game is sweet.
