Folks, if you don't know. I'm a huge DDR dork. I stopped playing 3 years ago, but something bugged me - I never beat Pandemonium, which was the hardest song at the time. I've caught the bug again, so I'll be logging my progress here until I either beat the thing or go down in flames.

Updates should come twice a week on tuesday, thursday, or saturday.

Yes, the attempt will be no-bar.

Pandy:
Stats - 950ish steps 100ish jumps in 2 minutes
(This guy makes it look easy)
http://www.youtube.com/v/eETijsQoXaU&ap=%2526fmt%3D18&rel=0

Current stats:

I fixed my audio delay issues, which made my scores skyrocket. I just passed every 11 except The Beginning (damn crossovers) and made it most of the way through the shorter 12s.

Saturday I tossed in Extreme (japanese version) as I was looking for a shorter, more intense workout and ran the songs from the Max Quartet individually back to back, passing all but Max.(period). Also beat Paranoia 270 and 290 at the same time. So, it's back to ITG on tuesday.

Current ETA: New Years

Update from last night:

Spent most of the evening rockin 11's and 12's. Passed all the songs I wanted to, and then spent the rest of the time completely wasted from those I actually passed.

Made it 75% through Delerium and 40% through Tell.

Need to work on my arm technique, they're flailing around all over the place and that isn't helping with the balance. I did try the whole foot leaning forward technique rather than the straight up heel-toe to great success. It was much easier to keep my balance during fast spots. I think I'm going to either adopt it or blend the two.

Update:

One of my cboxes finally blew up after 5 years, I'll be heading down to CF to pick up a new one on monday. (It's nice having them 15 minutes away)

Also found ITG 1-3 from rynker, so I'm finally able to rock more 11s and 12s. I spent most of the day dinking around in the new songs. Passed a good majority of the new 11s and had no problem with any of the new 10s. Looks like Monolith and Hyper Hyper will be a serious pain.

Surprisingly, I almost made it through Bloodrush. Failed in the last fast section.

Hooah!

Threw down some mad stuff today.

Began practicing the expert version of pandy at 80% speed. Can handle the streams no problem, it's the technical parts - esp the jumps - which screw me up.

Other than that, began eying Bloodrush, Energizer, and Determinator - I've beaten almost all the new 11s and 90% of those were on my first time through. Yet, I can't pass a damn 12. Aarrggg, I need to bust this plateau.

Didn't play today. Rather, spent the time calibrating the new setup, as the lag was beginning to bug me.

BTW, I'm not playing off my laptop hooked up to my system - sooo much nicer. No loading times and much, much, much smoother.

Final offset time was either -.012 or -.008 I haven't decided yet.

Awesome session today.

Passed my first 12 and beat Pandy on Hard. Not only did I beat Pandy on hard, I rocked Pandy on Hard. Only 8 way offs and 6 decents. Hooah!

Now my second to last remaining hurdle is busting from the higher level 11s on to the 12s.

Rocked pandy on hard and another 12 footer today. Almost passed a few more 12s.

Began work on the Expert version of pandy today - I can do most of the song individually minus the first 30 seconds. Things are lookin decent for the new years ETA.

Forgot to post Tuesday. So I'll do 2 updates at once:

Tuesday -

Nothing incredible, just an average session.

Today -

Beat another 12 before I was kicked off early. I imagine I should be able to get a few more 12s this week and maybe figure out the first 1/2 of exp pandy.

Mah basement.

I've got 2 Cobalt Fluxes from way back when which work great. I'm running OpenITG, so, I've essentially set up a DDR cabinet in my basement, minus the cabinet.

I actually hadn't considered trying the machines in the union.

Forgot to post for Saturday.

Did pretty crappy. Was having an offday and hadn't fully recovered from the workout on Friday.

So, nothing new and nothing special to report.

I know I haven't posted in a while, but I have been playing.

I found the rumored guide compiled by the 'pro' dance sim players back in the game. Had some rediculously useful tips - stuff which helped me keep my balance and nail step-jumps.

Had a good session today - I am so close to breaking in to 12's as my standard level of play it isn't even funny. I now do hard 11's as rest songs and I can pass a good chunk of the 12's. I finally made it through an ITG1 12 (Delerium) and I made it through all the hard stuff only to fail in the effing MINES on Tell. I was pissed about that, but heh.

My pandy stepfile was out of sync (I hit an f key while playing it on keyboard) so I fixed that and I managed to make it 75% through Pandy. I failed in the very last part of the last true hell run. I just ran out of energy. Flat out hit the wall and just stepped off the pad.

I'm feelin it, though. If I FINALLY made it through the beginning, I'm pretty sure I'll nail the full song by christmas.

Played the past few days.

First day I figured out the 16th jumps (I'm not actually doing them, rather three 8th jumps, which nets me a two excellents and a great) on Pandy, so the beginning obstacle is almost out of the way. Didn't do much else that day as I was feeling pretty beat.

Today I popped back in some plain old DDR just to have some nostalgic fun. I managed to A three of the max Quartet (almost AAed 300) and almost passed Max.(period) which is something I've never done.

I imagine I can beat Pandy sometime soon, I'm just gettin antsy about the endurance. I waste so much energy powering through the beginning that I am beat by the last hell run. If I can get that beginning down to where I don't have to charge through it, I'll be set.
