Finally our L4D servers are going up. For now we only have one up. It's non-exclusive, so anyone may join. If our box can handle another server, we will add an exclusive server for oPg community members.

IP: 69.147.235.61:27015 oPg L4D | HiDef LA

Access the server by clicking on 'Steam Group Server' from within L4D. It may take a while (the browser in game is borked) but you'll eventually get in. Use voting (press esc in game) to change difficulty, campaign, and kick players.

xoxoxoxo,
Laby

Any comments and concerns please post them here for now. I will be adding a L4D forum tomorrow. Everything should be running smoothly. The only thing I know of is that the '3rd party hosting provided by' banner is different based on resolution, so I went with the 620x100 size (1280x1024) as a good compromise between lowres and hires/widescreen monitors.

Let's fill her up this week and especially tomorrow night. I'm going to be checking hardware usage with both the pub and L4D full and see if we can handle another server. These things are much more brutal than previously thought. (Think 24 man TF2 server for every 4 person L4D)

Those zombies eat more CPU than they do brains.

Server browser has been there since demo. From console type 'openserverbrowser.'

You will be able to see the server if you are member of the oPg steam community. They have added integration with the communities, so community servers show up on the main screen of the game.

I've used it.  It's tough to get in (that's what she said) and I eventually had to join by IP.

Also, is there a way to move to a different stage within a level without having RCON?

Yeah, Valve did a piss poor job on their server browser for this game.

To join the server... you have to hit Enter  Once you get to the oPg Community Server list.   took me a while to figure it out.

There's about 5 different ways to go about it.

Horribad design on Valve's part.

I've played in it a few hours myself.  No problems.

You can vote to change the whole level, but as far as I know, the only way to change the stage inside each level is with RCON.

Hopefully there will be a sourcemod or something soon that makes managing gameplay a little easier.

I killed Jake a few times... on the server...

I'm not too good at this game, but I love it!

It's always a pleasure getting TK-ed.  The game is definitely fun though.

You know you've got the team in mind when you get knocked down by a tank then shoot the gas can or propane tank lying on the ground next to you.  I like fire.

Why not just shoot it from a distance when the tank walks through?
