Anyone played it? Likes/dislikes. I played it at a friends house the other night and loved it. I'm trying to decide whether to rent it or buy it.

SO GOOD OMG. I have it for the computer and I'm on Chapter 7 and it gets better and better. It took the best from resident evil, doom 3, prey (ship textures remind me a bit of the alien ship in prey,) and combined it with rpg elements.
Even though it won't feel like a fast paced shooter like CS, aiming matters just as much if not more.
I stopped playing farcry 2 after I got this. (farcry 2 is overrated, everything BUT the shooting mechanics is good, so.... a shooter with poor shooting mechanics/hit boxes breaks the game)
Highly recommend!!!!

When I'm done with the massive amounts of sequels I have to make my way through, I'll check it out.

I have it for PS3 and i will say that i don't think i've payed a game that has a better atmosphere... if you have surround sound this game will make use of it extremely well. Not only does it look like a ship torn from hell its sounds like one tooo!!!! I still have not completed it yet... i trying to figure out what will happen to the girl he knows. She keeps popping up in the weirdiest parts.

When I play it, my dog will stay in the room with me for no more than 15 seconds. She starts looking around trying to find what's making that noise (I have surround sound), then the hair on her back will stand up, then she'll run upstairs as fast as she can barking like crazy.

Heh, awesome dog jake.
Yahtzee's def one of my favorite gaming comedians (<--is there even such a thing?)
I felt like dead space borrowed things from other games (ie. doom 3, prey, RE,) but made it the right combination. The plots is actually quite interesting (compared to say doom 3,) and the scares are NOT just closet monsters (like doom.) There were situations where I knew they were coming, it was more a panicking process of singling out which target is more important and where my character should be standing. I like the slower pacing (unlike doom 3's quake style gun fights, which are awesome for deathmatch but not really for horror)
If you guys get a chance, get the dvd movie, it explains what led up to ischimura's demise.
