« on: August 21, 2008, 09:15:48 AM »

i just overheard this conversation and i want your take:

boyfriend vs boy friend

girlfriend vs girl friend

what's the difference?
other than the obvious fact that there is a space between the second one.
cause really, im tired of hearing shes a girl and shes my friend. but i think we put context around the fact that girl friend or girlfriend means the same thing. and vice versa

this is a retarded post.
im bored.

What about dog friend... I mean its my dog.. and my friend... does that mean its my dogfriend.. or dog friend?

I'm so confused.

PS, I lost and found my dog this weekend.

Semantics mean jack diddly in this situation.

You are either in a relationship with someone past the friend point or you are not.

I've always just said friend for friend and girlfriend.

Does it really matter what gender they are?

Maybe I'm being callous here.

well no, if you want to call killa your girlfriend thats between you and him.

it doesnt matter what gender they are - but what im sayin is that your bestfriend (if its a guy) is your boy friend.
sounds weird

but if you have a bestfriend thats a girl that is your girl friend but not your girlfriend (romantic).
but society translates girlfriend and girl friend as the same thing.
