Alright so this girl asked me to the winter dance right then we like went on a couple dates and so yeah she is offically my girlfriend right. So the week before my dance i was thinking about breaking it off because i didnt like her as much you know?? but its not like i could do it before the dance because that would be awkward as shit. So i waited and i had so much fun at the dance so i kind of like her again uhh i dont know what to do. So lots of people give me shit because they are like you are going out with her?? you can do better steve and im like thanks f*** off you jackass. She is cute in all but yeah not the cutest but good enough for me. And people are like telling me to break it off and i really dont want to but i dont know if i still feel the same as i did before. And killa told me to break it off right now lol because its not gonna last. I DONT KNOW and its like really depressing because i feel like a jackass and shallow as shit for even thinking about breaking up with her because she isnt hott. HELP ME LISSA SLAP ME OR SOMETHING

I know Laby isn't Lissa, but he was in a similar situation before, a very similar situation.

To add on to that tidbit, it is high school so it won't last. End of story. Sorry to pop your bubble, but this isn't going to be your future wife. Now, this does NOT mean that it cannot be amazingly fun, and rewarding. Relationships are an integral and necessary part of life, thus having them is usually healthy.

Moving on to whether you should break up or not there's more than one way to view it, but only one I would consider, the moral way.

Now, when you consider the fact that your friends in highschool will more than likely not follow you to college, and that once you graduate you will only see them at reunions, don't break up or stay with her because of them. Sure if the girl is not part of the "A" group then you may lose a little face in the clique arena, but that means jack shit. You need to only worry about losing face in one area, and that is with yourself. If you can't look yourself in the eye and be comfortable with yourself because of something you have done, then you have a problem. To avoid this, do what is right, and what is right can only be determined by you.

The only thing I can say is that physical beauty is superficial and is not as profound/important as a person's emotional, spiritual and intellectual qualities.

hey. i disagree with parts of laby's post.

only because it could be your wife.. you never know. i know plenty of people that married their high school sweethearts.

you were having mixed emotions about it on the get go because you perhaps didnt know her well. or maybe you didnt know what to expect. because you have fun with her and the dance was a blast is just another wonderful thing about getting to know someone. cliche, but whatever...  if your friends and killa told you to jump off a bridge, would you?
the point is:
you like her
your friends arent dating her. you are.

if you have the type of friends that make your decisions for you, by all means.. break up with the girl.
but honestly.. pick your battles.
finding someone special to share maybe a few months or a few years or maybe even a lifetime with shouldnt be chosen by the friends you hang out with.
if your friends arent gonna see you through a relationship with someone, then they really arent the friends you need in your life.

technically, you are in high school and you dont need a silly girlfriend. but its nice to know someone cares for you. and if you can understand that it might end in the near future, then you'll be fine.

So there was this girl that was interested in me and we hung out a bit, and she was fun.  One day I decided to make a move.  I don't know why, but I did.  We started going out.  Now I don't regret this cause I had lots of fun with her.  She was a great girl.  But, I simply didn't find her physically attractive, which, while not the MOST important thing, is important.  And since she wanted more, and I knew it wasn't going anywhere cause I didn't find her attractive, it was time to break it off. Still, I felt kinda bad that the only reason it wouldn't go anywhere is cause she wasn't attractive.
