i thought i would create a consolidated mouse/mouse settings post!!
everyone who has a spare moment, please post your mouse settings in the following format:
Mouse Mousepad Windows Sensitivity (simply the number of notches) DPI Setting In-Game Setting Accelerations and Precision Algorithms (where applicable)
also, please post any thoughts or questions! i'm very knowledgable about these things, and i'd be happy to answer any questions! thinking about buying a new mouse or mousepad, or tweaking your settings for precision/speed/consistency? lemme point you in the right direction!

Logitech MX518 w/ teflon mousefeet Steelpad S&S improved 4 notches 800 dpi 3.250 in-game CPL Mousefixed for ZERO accel
i've changed my mouse settings many times in the past, but this is what i've been using for a few months now. (and your heads and my demos know just how well they work for me)
the biggest difference between my setup and yours, and the single best way to improve your mouse skills and your consistency is probably CPL Mousefix. CPL mousefix removes all acceleration from the mouse sensitivity, meaning your mouse is CONSISTENT. default settings means that your mouse cursor accelerates, starting from 1.0 and going up to your chosen setting. this is meant to improve precision and allow people to make smaller movements easier, but in counterstrike it means that depending on the speed you move your mouse, your crosshair will always travel a different distance. removing all mouse accel (positive or negative) means that no matter the speed, if your mouse travels a certain distance, your crosshair will move a certain distance. this one setting (giving you locked ratio X/1 movement, where X is equal to the final calculation of dpi and sensitivies) will allow you to develop better muscle memory in your arm, eventually giving you a much more consistent and accurate shot. the majority of pros and invite players (though not all of them) use CPL mousefix or another solution to give them locked ratio mouse movement. Fatality, clowN, frod, toxic, volcano... the list goes on and on.
lemme know if you have any questions, or spot any errors i made above.

Razer Deathadder Corepad Magna Default 1800 DPI .88 in-game No positive or negative accel I used to play at 2000 DPI with 3.3 sensitivity in game. It took me about 2 inches to pull a 360*. I then became a low sens player and made it so it takes me 8" to pull a 360*. Yeah, that transition was bugging hard. As for CPL mouse-fix, if you have a driver set for your mouse that disables accel, stick with it. The only thing that installing CPL mouse-fix on top of a driver set will do is cause problems. However, if you don't have any sort of drivers that disable accel, use CPL mouse-fix. In regards to optimizing your mouse or figuring anything out, register on the CAL forums and read this thread: http://forums.caleague.com/showthread.php?t=96767 it makes life SO much better.

Razer Copperhead desk... no pad... wind-blows at default almost 7.5 in the razer driver control panel 2000 DPI 1000 MHZ polling rate 2.4 In-Game
I have found that 2.3 - 2.4 is nice for me! It allow's me to turn around in one movement but, still I can have the accuracy that i want. I think for me the hardest thing was picking the speeds I wanted to use. Now that i have this in place i can practice via deathmatch and scrims to improve my aim at said setting.

In regards to optimizing your mouse or figuring anything out, register on the CAL forums and read this thread: http://forums.caleague.com/showthread.php?t=96767 it makes life SO much better. first! you do experience negative acceleration, probably alot. 1800 dpi is WAI 2 HAI! i don't know how fast your arms move but i hit the data bus limit and experience negative acceleration with every awp shot. drop your dpi and compensate with windows and in game changes. if you have no positive accel on, you should be able to make measurements, then compensate, then measure again. double check your no positive acceleration settings, they can be super finicky. also, i don't use second party mouse drivers- ever. while it certainly isn't a BAD idea to use the provided and most updated official drivers for your mouse, i personally would rather just use the functional and consistent WinXP HID driver (registry tweaked and properly setup of course).

desk... no pad..
get a mousepad you filthy animal!! for that mouse i recommend a steelseries QCK+. get teh HUGE one, it's bigger than midget corner to corner. you should already be tefloned. a mousepad, even a CHEAP one, will DRASTICALLY IMPROVE YOUR GAME. or you could not get one, i do rather enjoy shooting you in the head most of the time.

as far as dirrty goes it depends on the surface of his desk...
Mouse: Deathadder pad: Icemat (black) windows at default but accel turned off, Razer Driver Sens: 10 ingame is down to like 1.4 i think.
However it is odd when moving from game to game. If the game sensitivity in 2142 is super high due to the razer settings then i play CSS the settings are way different so it takes some adjustments. but then again it would anyway.

you cannot turn off windows acceleration merely by unchecking that box. xp is pretty much broken in that regard, which is why we have to use cpl mouse fix... you still have acceleration enabled. the surface of the desk is pretty much irrelevant, for several reasons. 1, it'll never be as good as a mousepad, unless you coated your desk in space age plastic or something. 2, it'll never be consistent. if you go anywhere you'll have what amounts to entirely new setup! oh well. i'm in a dark mood

Especially if you go from playing on your desk to the lawn in someone's back yard. Or perhaps the back of their couch... I've told you a billion times not to exaggerate.

Hey, come on. I went from playing at my desk and using that as the mousepad to playing in front of my Plasma, sitting in the love sac, and using my carving board as the mousepad. Turkey juice removed.

i only play on the softest of silks drapped over the back of one of my many harem girls. However like you say, with each girl the playing surface is quite different.
