Hey, I'm curious if anyone has read His Dark Materials by Philip Pullman.  I read the first two books in junior high, and the trailer for the new Golden Compass movie looks pretty good. I'm just wondering because people are freaking out over it and calling it anti-Christian.  A friend of mine passed on a message about it to me saying I shouldn't "waste my money on such an awful show."  Anyone read them?

I can't talk about movies/music/literature/art being anti-christian or anti-any religion without laughing crazily and then going into a rant, so I shall simply say this:  Most movies probably don't line up exactly with  christian teachings, not counting the Ten Commandments yay Heston, but I haven't seen too many that directly attack them either.
That is all.  Oh and I have not read those books so I cannot comment about them specifically.

Yeah, I know, it's silly.  I just didn't know people were making such a hissy-fit until the other day.  I was curious if there were any fans of the books around here.

I read the entire trilogy a long time ago. Probably one of the best Ive ever read. From what I understand of the movie though is that Dm fans are getting mad because it doesnt address the religious aspect of the books as much as it should.
