Take more care with who you ban

I alias, it's true.


Alot of you folks also are under the impression that I'm pretty good with the scout, I don't think I can deny that.



But when an admin says he's gonna ban me because of some "BS shots," I think it's time to take a step back and re-evaluate how you ban people.


There are blatant folks, and not so blatant folks, and sometimes it's hard to discern between a nice/lucky shot, and a person with an aim bot or zero recoil hack. Please, in the future, record demos of suspects and have them reviewed by more than just one person, because it's unfair when a legit player is banned.



Anywho, in order to not get banned I had to declare myself, and then the admin said "oh! The Stig? alright, I know you don't cheat, nice shots!" I'm not that special, and there are numerous people who can shoot just as good if not better than me, and to ban them for being good is a little unethical, and doesn't help with populating the server.


Please take more care in how you ban and who you ban from your server.

Thankyou Stig for the care and concern for your post. I get this alot. Frankly I don't blame the admin on questioning you, for I have seen you play and you frankly kick ass. Hopefully our admins are doing the right process and getting demos of any possible hackers on our server. Then being fully reviewed by the council. I shall be looking for you on the server to kill. Stig, I believe this is a risk you run in general because you Alias. Just my $.02 Your play style is very different from the average source player, and if you keep changing your name no one will know who you are. So if you look at it from the admins point of view you see that there is a player who is better than the rest, getting what appears to be shady shots using a style that differs from the average player. A flag goes up in the admins mind, and he watched more carefully. After coming to a decision (usually after several admins have been speccing you for at least a map) he will inform you, and usually ban you, or not ban you based on the decision.

"BS shots" probably was an extreme abridgement of several rounds/maps of viewing, and thus I'm not too amazingly concerned. However, if you believe this decision was made "willy-nilly" and with a very quick to act attitude please PM me with the admins name, and I'll have a chat with him.

Anywho, when/if someone is banned due to hacking which is not so amazingly apparent they have the right to dispute on the forums. Demos will have been recorded, and submitted for viewing on an FTP server for fellow oPg members. All oPg members, and the public have the right to view these demos, but it may prove a bit trickier for the public to get ahold of them.

If it isn't blatant, then be a little more cautious with that ban button in the future. I realize that it isn't a power trip, and that you're just trying to keep the server clean, but if you think someone cheats just keep it quiet and get a couple admins to spec the person, or record a demo.
